What was the Toytesters.tv Tour?
In August 2015 Nigel set off on the Toytesters.tv Tour 2015. The tour visited Hamleys Glasgow, Hamleys Manchester and the their flagship store in London. Accompanying him on the tour were 6 of the most anticipated toys of 2015. We saw Real FX racing, the new Thunderbirds range, I Do 3D, Teksta Scorpion, Pet Parade and the new Power Rangers Dino Charge range. Kids had the opportunity to star in video content, and get involved in exciting competitions. There was also the chance of winning a selection of the toys from the tour. A few of the videos made on this hugely successful tour can be seen below.
How did it work?
The Tour spent 2 days at each of the stores with the London Store getting an extra day dedicated to LEGO. Each of the days were split into sessions and each session focused on 1 specific toy. For example, in the Teksta scorpion sessions kids got to learn how to use the remote controlled scorpion. Afterwards, they took part in a tournament against each other, with winners taking home the toys they were playing with. As you can imagine the excitement on the shop floor during each session was electric. Being an old hand at working with large numbers of people, Nigel managed to crowds with ease. Keeping everyone entertained and involved. And all sessions were captured on video to make promotional highlights packages.
What happened next?
Once the tour was over, being Director of Content at Toytesters.tv, Nigel was in charge of editing the final videos. These were used to promote the toys to a wider audience not able to attend the tour. As you can see they obtained substantial viewing figures. This succeeded in increasing the already fantastic coverage achieved by the tour.
