Did somebody say BAFTA Children’s Awards?
Here is a lovely little entry for the Nigel Clarke Blog! Last night the 21st BAFTA Children’s Awards was held at the RoundHouse in London. It’s the biggest night in children’s entertainment and I was lucky enough to be part of it. For the third time the event was hosted by comedian and actor Doc Brown. Over 20 awards were being fought for by the UK’s leading Channels, Production Companies and. While the categories included titles such as Animation, Writer, Factual, Presenter, and Channel of the year.
Who was there?
As usual the red carpet was littered with some of the countries leading talent from children’s entertainment. To name a few, Ore Oduba took time away from his Strictly Come Dancing commitments. Plus Emma Willis, Katie Thistleton(CBBC), Gordon Ramsey, Radzi Chinyanganya(Blue Peter) and preschool favourite Justin Fletcher were all there. And if you were worried about catching up with all the red carpet gossip, Lindsey Russell(Blue Peter) and Luke Franks(Scrambled) were on hand to make sure nobody escaped. How did the ceremony go?
Firstly the evening started with a lovely 3 course meal and champagne to settle the throng. In addition to this everyone took part in a BAFTA Mannequin Challenge. Have a look at the video below, I think you’ll agree it turned out pretty well.
Next up it was the opening of the ceremony, which was kept under close wraps. A musical number which saw myself, Doc Brown, London Hughes and Leona Vaughan burst onto the stage. We performed a rendition of Queen’s “Don’t stop me now” to the unsuspecting guests. Most of whom were rather suitably surprised. This kicked off proceedings which were steered beautifully by our host .
A beautiful mix of awards presentations, humour, and speeches meant the time flew by. While being entertained we had reached the end of the ceremony, and nobody wanted to finish. Consequently, that’s when the party started! Guests, winners and nominees danced the rest of the night away while drinking and congratulating winners and losers. It was a great evening, and most noteworthy for me was rapping Jay-Z and Kanye’s Paris with Doc Brown. We killed it dude! Thank you Bafta Children’s awards, next stop The Grammys!
