Dr Strange UK Premiere!
Marvel fans get ready to be just a little bit jealous. This evening I went to the Dr Strange UK Premiere at the Odeon in Leicester Sq. Yes, Marvels latest addition to their universe is out this week. Only a lucky got an invite to this special screening. Attendance was at full capacity and by the general atmosphere inside the room, you could tell everybody was very excited.
Fun And Games
With any premiere there are always a couple of cool things for fans to do before taking their seats. Firstly there was a specially made Doctor Strange portal backdrop, where you could have your photo taken. And if that wasn’t enough, the patient few could be frozen in mid air thanks to an awesome bullet time set up. That’s right just like Neo in ‘The Matrix’ you could hover in the air like a superhero. (It seems like I’m not the only one who’s always wanted to have a go at this. But buying 50 high quality cameras has never been an option.) I was mighty pleased with the results. Play the video on the right to make up your own mind. Add all that to bumping into presenting pal Ortis Deley and I was ready to see the film.
A little Surprise
After all the fun and games it was time to take our seats and see what Marvel had dreamed up for us! But before starting, there was one final bit of icing for the cake. Director Scott Derrickson came on stage to rapturous applause before ushering on 5 of the films stars. Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Mads Mikkelsen,Tilda Swinton, and our lead Benedict Cumberbatch were all cheered and applauded on stage too. Then Dr Strange himself told us in part about his experience making the movie before introducing the film.
