Inflate-a-mals Ride on Unicorn – from DGL Toys (RRP £29.99)

This may arguably become the cutest and most practical toy in Nigel’s Christmas Toy Competition 2018. Inflate-a-mals are big, soft, cuddly, lightweight and tons of fun! This unique kind of inflatable soft toy is stuffed with an inflatable PVC bladder that is easily blown up. The Inflate-a-mal characters come in a variety of large sizes, but, when deflated, they will fit anywhere so a child can take it with them when travelling. So you can unbox, inflate, play and store easily. Everyones happy.

Mary Poppins Book Bundle and Umbrella (RRP £47.96)

This prize is practically perfect in every way! Mary Poppins has been one of my family favourites for many years. And with the new film coming out this Christmas its the perfect time to re-read the original book. Fans will be blown away by this exquisitely illustrated gift edition by Lauren Child, creator of Charlie and Lola and Clarice Bean. You’ll also win a gorgeous exclusive Mary Poppins umbrella, and the original P.L. Travers stories that inspired the new movie.
There is also a chance to win this bundle in my Christmas Twitter Party. It all takes place on Friday 30th November 2018 from 7pm to 9pm.

Air Hogs – Supernova (RRP £39.99)

The Air Hogs Supernova is a gravity defying orb with a difference. Normal flying toys have a remote control, but with this one you and your body movements become the controller. It uses motion and laser sensors to read and respond to gestures, allowing for a variety of different forms of expression. There are over 30 moves to master and 9 Super tricks that range from easy to complex.

Playing with this was great fun and as you learn more of the gesture controls the Air Hogs Supernova becomes more of an extension of the user rather than something separate. You can learn solo or pass back and forth with friends and see what amazing tricks you can pull off. Plus the orb is engineered to handle the unexpected, Air Hogs Supernova is equipped with collision avoidance and stable flight technology – it’s ready for anything.

Hatchimals – Hatchibabies (RRP £59.99)

Since their launch in 2016 when it was one of the most popular toys for Christmas, the Hatchimals brand has gone from strength to strength. The latest hatchlings in the series are the Hatchibabies. They come in two new species – Ponette and Cheetree – and whether you hatch a boy or girl, these new characters will make adorable additions to your Hatchifamily! As with previous models you must nurture and care for your Hatchimal if you want it to hatch. Then once it’s hatched, you begin the journey of getting to know it’s personality by teaching it words and playing games with it. Games include Peek A Boo, Bouncing Baby and Animal colours to name a few and you can also use the accessories to make your Hatchibabies do different things. Each one has a secret trick to discover.

Boom Ball – IMC (RRP £26.99)

This one is for all the family. Seems like over the last few years the classic board game has had some stiff competition from the activity based games. Boom ball is one of the best examples of this style of game. Boom ball is a cannon that fires out ping pong balls for players to catch. Sounds straight forward but you have to catch the balls using a net that you wear above your head. The player who catches the most balls wins. A great social game, this will have everyone competing and laughing together. (By the way, I’m the reigning champ – come and have a go if you think you’re hard enough.???)

Cake Pop Cuties – Character (RRP £4.99 each)

Last year I was introduced to the squishy. Small items in all different shapes and sizes that are made out of that squishy stress ball kind of foam. Well this year things have moved on and we have Cake Pop Cuties. Each lollipop shaped Cake pop, contains a squishy foam cute character. 12 characters to collect in total. While super shy, they look so sweet….what will be your magical bakery treat?

Pimple Pete (RRP £19.99)

Pimple Pete is a fun family game for 2-4 players. Take it in turns to pull Pete’s pimples being careful not to explode the mega Pimple in the middle of his nose. It’s a game of delicacy where the person with the lightest touch wins. Points are awarded depending on the difficulty of the pimple being pulled and the heavy handed loser gets a face full of pimple juice. I can definitely see the family fun in this one and its simplicity means all ages can get involved easily.

Zoom Tubes Car Trax Starter Kit (RRP £24.99)

Toy car racing gets an overhaul with Zoom Tubes Car Trax and it’s not even on sale in the UK yet. Rather than flat track pieces, it comes with several clear tubes that can be connected together to form any number of insane configurations. The included, remote-controlled car lights up, creating a strobe effect as it flies through the track. Use the included USB cord to recharge your miniature vehicle. Start your high-speed adventure with this Starter kit but this is only the beginning. There are expansion packs that can be bought  to make huge courses for this cool toy.

Hot Wheels Drone Racerz (RRP £34.99)

Jump, race and fly with the Hot Wheels RC Bladez Drone Racerz. Combine the fun of flying a drone with the thrill of high speed action racing down a Hotwheels track. This dual purpose drone uses an adaptable racing chassis, which turns the nimble, acrobatic drone into a high speed remote controllable car. The 2.4GHz radio frequency gives you complete control of your Bladez Drone Racerz up to a distance of 30 meters, so you can race around your living room by air or along the ground.
The fun doesn’t stop there either, the box features a selection of cutout obstacles for you to navigate through at speed. A handy cardboard phone holder also enables you to position your phone and record your stunts so you can show off to your friends.

Luvabella (RRP £89.99)

Luvabella is a loveable and lifelike baby doll that keeps kids engaged through nurture and play. With over 200 unique responses it is hard to predict what this doll is going to do. This makes the imaginative role play experience of looking after a baby all the more real. The doll comes in both boy and girl models, and each is sold with 3 accessories and a dummy. From feeding time with her spoon, play time with her Lamby, to nap time with her bottle, Luvabella will respond with natural reactions. The most amazing thing about this doll though, is the fact that the more you play with it, the more it learns, and there are over 100 words you can teach it. We are lucky to have it in the Christmas Toy Competition 2018.

Remember Fingerlings from last year? Well now you can tame your own dinosaur with the Untamed Jailbreak T-Rex Playset by Fingerlings! When your Untamed dinosaurs get a little too ferocious, keep them safe in this special time-out cage. The Jailbreak playset comes with Infrared, a fearsome T-Rex you’ll have to keep under control. Will you train him to be a fierce friend or a ferocious foe?

Otrio Game (RRP £19.99)

Otrio is an updated take on noughts and crosses. Players take it in turns to put their coloured pieces on the board. There are several ways to claim victory: line up three circular pieces of your colour in a row from big to small, sneak in three of the same-sized pieces in a row, or circle up three concentric pieces in the same space. With so many ways to win (or lose), Otrio turns a child’s game into a fully fledged strategy battle. My kids and I have been having loads of fun playing this. It’s simplicity levels the playing field no matter what your age. Definitely my favourite board game in the Christmas Toy Competition 2018.
