Kidtropolis 2016

This week I was hosting the main stage at Kidtropolis 2016 at Excel London. A funtastic family event with lots to see and do for kids aged 3-15. And with major brands like Nerf, My Little Pony, Play Doh and Scalextric exhibiting. It was no wonder this was the place to be this October half-term.

Day 1

It all kicked off with the official ‘show opening’ on stage. First up, Amazing Arabella sang her brand new song Blogaholics which features MC DT(Do you really like it, 2001). Then costume characters from Angry Birds, Paw Patrol, Playmoblie, Transformers, and Play Doh joined the Kidtropolis special guests on stage for a photo call. It was a spectacular opening with confetti cannons and a 1000 piece balloon drop. The first ever Kidtropolis was well under way.

If that wasn’t enough YouTube sensation Tiana from Toys and Me joined me on stage. Her channel has over 2.1 million subscribers, which I’m sure you will appreciate is no mean feat. And Tiana unwrapped and helped me announce the Toytesters.tv Top Toys for Christmas 2016. A unique list of the Best toys for Christmas as voted for by children.
From there onwards it was a rollercoaster ride with competitions, giveaways, performances, birthday messages and even world record attempts. And that was just on the stage. The rest of the hall was filled with cool activities. Such as rock climbing, a gamer bus and even a roller skating rink provided by Silver Wheels Roller Disco.

Day 2

On day 2 there were a couple of big additions to Kidtropolis 2016. Firstly Ethan Gamer was there doing a meet and greet with his fans. Another star of YouTube, he has 1.2 million followers on his channel which is geared towards video games. And Secondly Captain Calamity, who had both kids and parents mesmerised with his wonderment. A man inside a balloon, thats all I’m saying! Wow!
In addition to that Amazing Arabella shot the music video for her song Blogaholics. The crowd had a ball doing this and I even saw 1 or 2 parents trying to squeeze into the back of shot. Once the video is out I’ll be sure to let you know.

Day 3

The final day and we went out with a bang. Gorgeous movies were in the house doing a meet and greet. We also upped the stakes in the Kidtropolis Dance competition and gave away some big prizes. The winner was only 3 years old but he was a natural performer and definitely has a bright future ahead of him. He had the whole crowd in stitches, a proper little Usain Bolt.

What a great event Kidtropolis 2016 was! The days were long but I enjoyed every second of it, and it was good to see friends old and new. Big shout outs to Gemma Smith, Simon Pilling,  Andrew David (Methodworks), Elspeth Pierce, Robert Taylor Hastings, Dominik Maksylewicz (Milks Gone Bad Productions), Mike Brown, and Josh Silver (Silver Skates Roller Disco). See you next year!!!
